FMEA - What´s that?
The FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is a technical risk analysis. It is the transition from reactive to preventive defects or quality management. The idea is, to setting up a useful, cost-effective FMEA system in the company, including integration into the QM method landscape.
Usually according the seven steps of "AIAG/VDA FMEA 2019 guideline" we analyze technical risks in your products and processes. We create a graphical structure of your product or process, determine the corresponding functions and thereout we derive potential failures. We link these logically across at least three levels and thus carry out an analysis of functional and failure relationships.
Then we finally get to the core of the FMEA work: We identify measures to avoid failure causes and/or measures to check or test them. Resulting in ToDo-lists leading targeted project work.Because each secured failure cause safes unplanned actions, nerves and finally real money.
In many cases, even experienced developers gain new insights into problems that were often previously unforseen.
